- If you have A History of US book A by Joy Hakim - go over the sections on the Native Americans, European exploration of the Americas, The American Revolution and the creation of the US Constitution.
- If you are taking Ancient History use that book (The World) to study the Ancient and Medieval World - Chapters 1 -14
- If you do not have the Ancient History textbook you could go to the library and check one out or go online and research: Neolithic Revolution, Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia (Fertile Crescent), Early African Kingdoms, Indus River Valley, Ancient Greek and Roman Civilizations, Medieval Europe, Beginnings of religions.
8th Graders - focus is on America through 1900 and Kansas History.
- Look at Joy Hakim's books A History of US book A, B and C.
- Topics include: Native Americans and European Explorers, American Revolution, creation of the US Constitution, Early US Presidents, Westward Movement, Civil War and Reconstruction, Life in America (women, children, African Americans, Native Americans, Immigrants).
- Topics in Kansas History include geography of Kansas, famous Kansans, Pony Express and trails through KS, Bleeding Kansas, Civil War, Progressive Movement, reform movements in KS, railroads and cow towns of KS, Great Depression in KS, KS during WWII, KS into the new century and challenges it faces.
- If you are in KS History the textbook The Kansas Journey by Jennie Chinn is excellent
